CPEprep Version 3.0, released in September 2018, is a software program consisting of a database of questions, answers, and explanations that together comprise a system for exam preparation. The database has 775 questions in 4 main topic areas. The 4 main topics are as follows:

  • Analysis
  • Design
  • Validation
  • Implementation

The software is designed to prepare the user for the one full professional certification exam offered by the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE), which has a choice of designation:

  • Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE)®
  • Certified Human Factors Professional (CHFP)®
  • Certified User Experience Professional (CUXP)®

CPEprep V3.0 was authored by David Gilkey, D.C., Ph.D., CPE, CSP, REHS/RS an Associate Professor of Occupational Health, Ergonomics and Safety in the Department of Safety, Health and Industrial Hygiene in the School of Mines and Engineering at Montana Technological University. He regularly lectures on topics such as environmental and occupational health, ergonomics, chemical hazards, industrial hygiene, workplace safety and emergency response.

Dr. Gilkey earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Southern California University of Health Sciences and Ph.D. from Colorado State University in environmental health with focus in occupational hygiene, safety and ergonomics. He is board certified in chiropractic occupational health and orthopedics and is a Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian (REHS/RS).

As an occupational health expert, he examined and evaluated nearly 5,000 disabled workers with various ergonomic related neuromusculoskeletal conditions over a 10 year period before redirecting his professional goals toward exposure assessment and prevention through education, training and program development. Dr. Gilkey has published over 29 refereed articles, 3 book chapters as well as 60 articles in trade journals in the areas of ergonomics, occupational safety and health and environmental health. He developed a online certificate program based upon the Ergonomist Formation Model as well as a university credit course in ergonomics preparing students for a career path toward becoming a CPE

 

Licenses:
INDIVIDUAL:  Online, Download, CD
MULTI USERS:  Online, Download

Individual Licenses can be purchased for various lengths of time, for example 30, 60, 90, etc. days. These are your License Days.  The Subscription Time is the time frame in which you can start the License Days you purchased.    Once you activate the program the License Days start and run consecutively.  Access to your program will stop when you use all of your License Days or the Subscription Time ends (regardless if you used your License Days).  For online programs you can purchase additional License Days during your Subscription Time by contacting DataChem Software.

Multi User Licenses will time out, regardless if all the purchased seats were used, in one year plus the number of License Days you purchased.  This is called your Subscription Time.  You may assign seats/users any time during your Subscription Time.  Once the end user activates their program their License Days start and run consecutively.

Multi User Online License:  During your Subscription Time the Account Manager for your organization’s Multi User License can observe usage by assigned users.  They can also purchase additional seats during the Subscription Time by contacting DataChem Software.

System Requirements:
Online Programs will work on internet connected devices (computers, tablets, smartphones, etc.) running any of the following browsers:  Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, Opera, and Edge.

Downloadable and CD Programs will work on devices running Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 or 10.  You need 150 MB to download a program and 20 MB of permanent disk space after installation.  Internet access is initially needed to register the program.  The program will only install on one computer.
